week 2 Tutorial Task

B) Embedded is a video with a New Communication Technology theme running through.

This video is a good representation of the evolution that communication has undergone throughout the years. It is presented in a way that is easy to understand with simple drawings. The way that it takes one image and evolves it into another is a great way to represent the evolution of communication.

C) An application that has enabled me to use iTunes more efficiently is genius. Genius looks at the songs that you have in your iTunes library and songs that you have purchased in the iTunes store and finds similar songs for you to purchase. If you want to find a similar song to a specific song in your library you can do that too by just turning your genius on and highlighting the song. . This application enables you to broaden your music taste into areas that you might not have otherwise known about. Genius will also make play lists for you with songs that mix well together out of your own library of music. Genius is also a great business decision by iTunes as it encourages you to purchase songs on the spot. The other side of this might be that you don't use new communication technologies for such trivial things as socialising. Explain why you don't use them. Is it a very conscious choice? Under what circumstances do you think you would consider using them?

Although I do use new communication technologies such as facebook and my mobile, I have decided to answer these questions because I don't utilise new communication technologies the way they should be utilised. When i use facebook for example, I don't upload photos of my weekend or my over seas travel (unless someone does it for me). This I guess is a conscious choise, although it comes from pure laziness and being uninterested rather than not wanting people to see what I am doing, what I have done and what I might be interested in doing a few hours or days from now. After saying all this, I have recently  moved away from all my friends and would have minimal communication with them if it werent for these New Communication Technologies. Circumstances in which I would consider using New Communication Technologies would be when it becomes too difficult not to use them, such as this class. I would never have made a blog if it weren't crucial to me passing this course in order to gain my degree. Another circumstance in which i would consider using New Communication Technologies is in a career. The field i am hoping to graduate into is Public Relations and Marketing. These fields will require that i am up to date with these technologies in a professional sense to stay on top of current events and media.
